Sorry you’re having trouble. I haven’t encountered the WMC plugin not de-registering itself properly.
A couple questions:
- Is this for Windows 7 Media Center?
- If you go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Hillcrest Labs\Kylo (or wherever you installed Kylo), is there a “wmc” directory underneath? It should contain the xml, launcher and a few other files for Windows Media Center.
If the folder is missing, then you need to reinstall Kylo (again) and make sure the Windows Media Center checkbox is checked. You may have to fully close WMC if you continue to have problems.
If the folder is there, but Kylo doesn’t show up in WMC, try manually installing the plugin:
Open up a command line console and type the following (make sure to check the paths to see if they’re correct for you):
C:\Windows\ehome\RegisterMCEApp.exe /allusers “C:\Program Files (x86)\Hillcrest Labs\Kylo\wmc\kylo_wmc.xml”
Hmm… now that I think about it, it could be that you chose to install Kylo for a single user and then logged in as a different user to use WMC… though that’s a long shot…
Hope this helps!
Yes, this is Windows 7 Media Center (x64)
Yes, the “wmc” directory exists and contains an .xml file and others.
After attempting the manual install, I get the follwoing message: “Exception occurred: The specified application is already registered Failed”
Additionally, in case it helps—-Kylo does appear in the extras gallery in Media Center. There is an option to add items from the extras gallery to the Media Center Start Menu. Kylo Browser does not appear among the items that I can select to be added to the start menu.
****EDITED WITH NEW DETAILS BELOW****
I went to uninstall Kylo again after the above steps and noticed that it was listed twice in control panel. I uninstalled both and re-installed Kylo….still no luck. I uninstalled again——RE-STARTED MY SYSTEM——and then re-installed it and everything works fine now.
Thank you very much for your help and for creating a great product!
