Hello

All content in Youtube when in full screen always buffers. I don’t have this problem in other browsers and I have a 37mbps fibre Internet connection

Thanks, Stuart. We actually saw your post on the Green Button earlier today and started looking into this. There does seem to be a real issue here. Oddly, the issue doesn’t seem to occur if you use the normal YouTube site (youtube.com) within Kylo, rather than the Youtube “TV optimized” site (youtube.com/xl). Of course, it’s the XL site that we link to on the main Kylo directory.

We’ll continue to look into this, but as a workaround for now you should be able to use http://www.youtube.com without experiencing this issue.

Hi

Thanks for the reply.

I’ve used the /xl leanback Youtube UI in Media Center via Amulet Voice remote’s Youtube integration. Did not have buffering issues with that.

When using Youtube XL with Kylo in small screen it seems to play fine, its only when you go full screen it starts buffering all the time.

I will try just using youtube.com in Kylo as a test.

Regards

CW.

Yes, it’s definitely something with the full screen mode on YouTube XL. You’re right that the smaller view doesn’t seem to experience the same problem. We do some event processing on fullscreen view to map the right mouse button to the “ESC” key, in order to allow a user to get back to the regular view without needing a keyboard. It’s possible that something in there is not co-existing happily with the Javascript that YouTube is using there. Thanks for bringing this to our attention, and we’ll continue to look into it next week.

Hi

I tried Kylo again today, it prompted me to update Kylo which I did, it then said there was a flash plugin to install, I assume this is the plugin for Firefox that your browser is based on, I don’t have regular Firefox installed on this PC. But it said something about I was trying to install an older version of the plugin I clicked a button but then regular IE opened and updated the flash player for IE.

I can confirm that using normal youtube.com in Kylo I don’t get any buffering in full screen mode.

Thanks

I built a brand new HTPC last week, good spec Tranquil PC with SSD for OS etc. I’ve just installed Kylo Browser on this new PC for the first time and it is also buffering in full screen in Youtube XL.

So that rules out a problem on a particular PC ?

I am a new Kylo user and I think its great! and would really like to use it and tell others about it but this issue is a bit of a show stopper at the moment as youtube is the main site I would use Kylo for.

Many thanks for your assistance.

Yes, it doesn’t seem that it’s confined to a particular PC setup. We’ve seen the behavior here on several units.

Do you experience the same faults when you use regular old youtube.com instead of the XL version? Not an ideal solution, but perhaps a decent workaround for now.

Normal Youtube.com seems to play OK in full screen mode in Kylo browser.

Of course for installing any videos or any things, plugins are required, so you have to install plugins first then and then you can upload any videos.

Sorry how is this related?
