I downloaded Kylo this afternoon and loved it, but like most people I instantly missed adblock, so after a little fiddling I have finally managed to get it working correctly

First you need to launch Kylo and got to

https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/downloads/latest/1865/addon-1865-latest.xpi?src=ss

this will bring up the software installation manager and you can install it just like you would with firefox.
However, it will not populate the filters list automatically so we need to close down Kylo and manually paste in the filters ourselves. These are located in win7 at

C:\Users\YOURNAME\AppData\Roaming\Hillcrest Labs\Kylo\Profiles\SOMETHINGRANDOM.default\adblockplus\

I have uploaded the default list to my dropbox here

Just extract to the adblockplus folder and replace the existing files

relaunch kylo to enjoy adfree browsing

If you come across any ads on a page that the filters miss then you can just hover over it to see the standard block tab appear to ad it to the filter list

This didn’t work for me. I downloaded from Kylo…but then when I went to the folders I couldn’t find anything that looked like where I should past the files from your dropbox. Im running win7 64 bit. I have not run kylo again yet..so maybe it just automatically will block ads?

http://www.tvdez.com/embed.php?c=hollywood&height=500&width=650

Will give lots of pop-ups ...

ADBLOCK PLUS

1 copy

https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/downloads/latest/1865/addon-1865-latest.xpi?src=ss

2.OPEN KYLO

3.( enter new URL )
CONTROL+V (paste)

4 software installation
INSTALL ADD ON FROM AUTHORS YOU TRUST
you have asked to install the following item
ADBLOCK PLUS
INSTALL NOW ......(press)

5.LOADING .......
(it will not change from this - you have to ...)
6.EXIT KYLO as per normal

7.RESTART KYLO

8 . type about:addons

(add on manager)
9 under adblock plus click MORE

10 click FILTER PREFERENCES

11.click ADD FILTER SUBSCRIPTION

12. you MUST add FANBOYS LIST .. it is the default one for adblock

13 you can add EASYLIST now or later

now run the TEST link again….no more popups

http://www.tvdez.com/embed.php?c=hollywood&height=500&width=650

UPDATE if your using FILMON or BBC put an EXCEPTION in for those sites as they have ´running adverts´in them and will not load correctly otherwise

Any Firefox extension that doesn’t expect to modify the Firefox UI should work in Kylo with some modifications. So for instance, LastPass and Xmarks wouldn’t be a good choice because they have their own UIs that need to be launched from within the Firefox UI. But ad blocking plugins generally work as long as you don’t need to use the interface.

Here’s a post that I wrote up about modifying the Widevine extension to work with Kylo. The version numbers are out of date, but the general idea might be of interest to those looking to create unsanctioned Kylo versions of Firefox extensions.
http://kylo.tv/community/viewthread/520/#7835

BTW, Adblock Plus is open source, which means it would be feasible to create a Kylo version. If anyone wants to own that project, I’ll try to figure out some way to feature community-made add-ons.

Hi,

I tried the above method to install ad block plus. But when I click on the addon click, Kylo says “Loading” and stays in that state. It never does anything else. The plugin is also not installed. I am using the latest version, 1.1.1. Any tips ?

i have pm you with contact details but my POST works 100% IF YOU FOLLOW IT EXACTLY its easy to misread bits of it
but the loading if i remember is AFTER it has counted down 5,4,3,2,1 INSTALL .once it has done that then EXIT FROM KYLO as it will sit there forever b´loading otherwise ,then RESTART KYLO but ADBLOCK is INSTALLED so go onto the next step (6)

I followed your post exactly. But I dont get a “5,4,3,2,1 INSTALL”. It directly goes to Loading ... and is totally stuck there. WHen I stop and start Kylo, I do not see ad block installed. I still see thousands of ads pop-up when I click your initial link

do you get the screen in a box INSTALL ADD ON FROM AUTHORS YOU TRUST

and you running this INSIDE kylo not in FF or IE

there are NO filters so unless you put them in you will not get any sites blocked

did you type

about:addons

and get thE addon manager on your screen

I did try it and in Firefox it installs fine. In Kylo, it directly goes to “LOADING ...”. It does not ask for an install.
